You're right about that red onion! Practically required but also cucumber (peel, slice in half, scoop out most seeds then slice on diagonal) Mix with your greens Then add a Quick Lemon Vinagrette (juice of one lemon, XV olive oil a dash of salt ) ...just whisk quickly together and TOSS in to coat Sprinkle a generous amount of oregano over it and toss a little more.
Serve on a platter. Thats the basic salad. At most greek restaurants they will garnish with Kalamata olives, tomato and lemon wedges, hard-boiled egg quarters and a fresh sprinkling of feta on the top! You can take it as far as you want. I think it depends on how central it is to your dinner. If its a main course with bread---do all of the above. If its a side to lamb and roasted potato wedges (classic Greek combo) then keep it simple (though with lamb do provide the extra lemon wedges...)
You could add garbanzo beans in it and use oil and vinegar as a dressing.Greek salad?
Cherry tomatoes. Here are two that I like. One you can omit the pasta, if you like. The other is for the dressing. Enjoy.

Green or red bell peppers are nice, sliced pepperoncini peppers, kalamata olives and a dressing made with olive oil lemon juice and some oregano.
Sliced beets and bananna peppers along with the red onion, some sliced cucumbers, and good quality black olives. Enjoy!
