I am looking for a tasty salad dressing. My sister in law is Greek and she has a secret recipe (which she wont share with me, obviously) I know it has sugar, garlic, vinegar (dont know which) and Olive oil, but it is so tasty and I know there is something else in there, could anyone help or have another recipe as equally tasty.......Thanks guysSalad Dressing?
Here you go;
dijon mustard
white balsamic
dried sweet basil
olive oil
kosher salt
white pepper
sugar or splenda
garlic
Squirt or spoon a little blob of the mustard in a bowl. I'm not big on proportions, but I don't like a huge mustardy taste in mine, so maybe a tablespoon.
Microplane in a whole garlic clove.
Glug in enough white balsamic vinegar to make a thick soup. Whisk away.
Sprinkle in a hefty amount of the dried basil, a small pinch of salt, a couple shakes of the white pepper, and a dash of sugar.
Whisk in roughly a fourth of a cup of the virginiest extra virgin olive oil you have. This IS a tossing dressing, so toss with your tender, light greens and serve immediately.
There is a mediterranean salad dressing that gives the impression of using vinegar but in reality it is the juice of 2 lemons, 1 clove minced garlic, and 3 tbsp. of vegetable or olive oil, 1/2 cup parsley, salt %26amp; pepper to taste.
Use this on salad or boiled red potatoes for a refreshing potato salad.
Oil can be increased to your liking as well.Salad Dressing?
For 1 cup of dressing: 3/4 cup of Greek extra virgin olive oil, 1/4 cup of good quality red wine vinegar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of crushed Greek oregano, 1 teaspoon of salt, and a pinch of pepper. Whisk together in a bowl, or place in a tightly covered jar and shake to combine.
This recipe rocks! It is adapted from an Emeril recipe. It's a very nice semi-emulsion. It holds together for awhile if you do it right.
1 TBSP Dijon Mustard
2 TBSP Balsamic Vinegar
1 TBSP White Wine Vinegar (you can fudge on this one and use white or cider vinegar or the juice of the zested lemon)
Zest of 1 Lemon (fgrated right into bowl, only the yellow part)
2 tsp sugar (can sub with splenda)
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
pinch of salt
pinch of cayenne
pinch of black pepper
1 heaping tsp fresh crushed garlic
1/2 to 2/3 cup EVO (extra virgin olive oil)
Whisk the balsamic vinegar into the dijon mustard one TBSP at a time. Then whisk everything else in except the EVO. Add the EVO in a thin steady stream while whisking. Taste. Adjust seasonings to taste (sometimes needs more sugar or balsamic or garlic or salt.)
