Also, you know the Roman leader was Julius Caesar?
How come GREEK salad dressing is called Caesar dressing when Caesar was Roman not Greek.....
AH! Someone explain!!!!Really confused about Romans and Ancient Greeks?
You are confused.
All right. First came the Greeks. They lived in city-states (Athens, Sparta, Corinth, Thebes...). The Greek cities reached great levels of prosperity that resulted in an unprecedented cultural boom, expressed in architecture, drama, science and philosophy, and the first attempt at democracy. Their influence was felt in the whole Mediterranean basin. What they never got was a single Greek state until Alexander the Great conquered them and that lasted only until he died. The Olympic games were games between the different city states once every four years in honour of the gods. They had chariot races as well as other competitions. They did not have gladiators.
Then the Romans came. They were at first barbarians, but extremely ambitious ones with extremely good warriors. They conquered the rest of Italy and went on to tackle the Greeks. The Romans won, and they copied the Greek culture known far and wide as the most refined and developed culture in the world (their point of view). The Romans however were more blood thirsty than the Greeks, their version of games is what you see in Gladiator. They also had chariot races, just like the Greeks had. They did not have Olympic games but participated in Greek ones.
As for Caesar sauce, it is the name of the guy who created it in 1924, Caesar Cardini, in Tijuana (Mexico). It is said that he had nothing left to make a salad sauce so he took what was left in his cupboard and mixed it up to make... the Caesar sauce.
Lovely answer. Clear, simple and direct. You have a gift.

Really confused about Romans and Ancient Greeks?Greeks were first, Romans second. Greeks started Olympic games (hence Mt. Olympus), and the Romans "borrowed" the Greek gods and just changed their names around. In that, Zeus became Jupiter, Hera became Juno, etc.
Romans did the gladiators and chariot racing--hence the coliseum and the circus maximus in rome.
Salad dressings do not accurately describe world history. Use your head. Italian salad dressing is NOT used by Italians--they use oil and vinegar.
Greeks started the Olympic games. Its named after a place in Greece called Olympia. The Romans had tons of cash to waste on sports which was why they were so famous for their entertainments. When was the salad dressing ever greek? It was never greek.

maybe the Caesar dressing was named that because Caesar liked to eat it. Who knows?
Caesar Salad is probably named after its creator Cesar Cardini, and was probably first made in the 1920s.
The Greeks were around several hundred years before the Romans. They were never really a superpower, but when the superpower of the day (Persia) attempted to invade them they kicked it to pieces. The battle of Plataea (479 BC) was probably the event which made it possible for major European powers to develop.
The Greeks invented what we call the Olympic games (though they had several different types of international sporting competition - the Olympics was only the most important).
Gladiators and chariot racing are both mainly Roman. The Romans began by conquering northern Italy, then southern Italy (where several of the cities were in fact Greek settlements). Then Rome took over Greece, the Holy Land, France, Spain, Britain, large chunks of modern Germany, Romania, Turkey ... to become the greatest superpower of the ancient world (and perhaps the greatest superpower ever).
During its early history Rome was a Republic (a limited sort of democracy) but when rich people started playing with the democratic government to suit their own agenda (does this sound familiar?) Julius Caesar temporarily took over control of the government while he sorted things out.
But Julius Caesar was assassinated, and after a very messy several decades another strong man - Augustus - took over things (temporarily) ... and then another strong man ... and then another one.
Rome never got its Republic back - they just had a series of strong men. Not all of them were good guys.
(Do you think the modern world could learn any lessons here)?
The olmpic games started with the greeks, but they didn't have gladiator and chariots were by the romans. not sure about the saland dressing but many because rome salad sounds weird. :)
Greeks came first and started the Olympic Games
Romans did not start Gladiatorial games, that was started by a people in Northern Italy called the Etruscans who were conquered by the Romans. The first gladiator fights were done by the Etruscans for funerals. The Romans just took the idea further, built upon it, and made it an extravagant show.
The Romans also, did not start chariot racing, that dates way back to the Assyrians, Babylonians, and Ancient Egyptians. Again it is just a case of the Romans being well known for it.
Ceaser dressing is used worldwide, and so is the name "Ceaser." It was used in both Greece and Rome and even on that dog t.v. show today lol !
Also Greece was taken over by the Romans during their dominance so all you have to do is look at the first point in time when all the Greek city states lost their independence and you will find the point were Greece is old news and Rome is where its at.
