Is Priceline too good to be true?

My husband and I want to take a short trip for Christmas this year, but with the airline ticket prices through the roof I went to priceline.com. I named a price and it appeared to be too good to be true. How does priceline work? Has anyone ever had good success with it? Does anyone have tips when it comes to getting good airfare deals? Is Priceline too good to be true?
when naming your own price on Priceline you have no say in what airline, layovers, or what time you leave. Not bad if your plans are flexible. You won't know any of this either til after you have paid, then you will get all your info.

Happy Travels...wish I could have used it for the price but most of my travels are schedule to the detail.
You name your price but you'll never get it, but if you do it'll be for that day. Plus, you don't get to see the itinerary before you buy. You could be on the plane from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm whith three stops. Don't do it.

Use KayakIs Priceline too good to be true?
I avoid priceline, since it offers no refunds and no exchanges

NONE WHATSOEVER

When something seems too good to be true, it usually is

But if you are very very certain of your plans, then by all means buy the ticket
You'll get a good price, but you're flight may very well have 15 stops along the way.

A great site to use in conjuction with priceline is www.biddingfortravel.com
