Here's what I do - find the flight you want on Orbitz or Travelocity or whatever, then call that airline %26amp; tell them you want that flight but the price on Orbitz is so high - can they get that fare lower? Usually successful.

It would have been useful to know where you are but in the U.K. try Ryanair....Cheapflights...and last minute .com
Try www.kayak.com, it searches a ton of travel sites simultaneously...OR try www.cheaptickets.com, www.orbitz.com or www.priceline.com and find the air company name and go to their site directly.. You usually end up saving a bit that way..
Depends on where you're flying. I use Airtran and usually get a roundtrip ticket for less than $200.00. I fly about 6 times a year so I've had a lot of experience with them and they're wonderful! Good Luck! Have a safe trip!
